As an intern, I’ve mostly acted as an observer. I have sat in on classes, gone on quite a few field trips, and keep track of things the staff find most important during their meetings. This is my first introduction to being in a potential position of teaching. I have also been focusing on developing good relationships with and getting to know the students and what they are like, and what they care about. In many ways, by not having a teaching background, I am diving in the deep in and right now I am learning how to float before I move forward to learning how to swim as an educator.

Beginning the school year with community- and consensus-building is awesome.
How are you participating in these happenings as an intern?
Best,
