Hi Cooperative Catalyst: Over the Past Six Years, I’ve been transforming as an educator. Here is my visual Educational Journey/Pathway over the past six years and how I have changed during that time. The oldest “label” is the top one, and has been molded and sculpted as you move down the list. I just wanted to post something visual. If you feel like it, post something visual yourself and tell the rest of us your educational journey or pathway, that you have been on over the last little while — or maybe its been a long road traveled. Thanks for the space to allow me to post this.

About caseykcaronna
A 27 year old Master of Arts in Education Degree holder from the progressive, liberal arts school, Goddard College. I am interested in Holistic, Community, Progressive, Democratic and Student-Centered Education.
I am currently a part-time employee with the Boy Scouts of America. I am writing my first book on holistic education and looking for full time employment in education, throughout the United States and Canada.
I am interested in all things education and hope to make trans-formative changes to the educational system(s) in America and in the process help to improve the lives of the individuals in whom it serves.
My educational journey over the past ten years…
1 Love. I love humanity, I love our possibilities.
2 Will Power. I started a school
3 Challenge. It was the hardest thing I’d ever done.
4 Passion. Without it, I would be lost.
5 Commitment. I committed to the journey as a learner, then as a teacher
6 Compassion. Life is hard enough in the 21st century
7 Listening. Children need to be heard.
8 Humility. I don’t have to know it all.
9 Trust. Trust in the process.
10 Community. It really takes a village.
Thanks for sharing Donna!! What an incredible journey you have been on and thanks for adding all of the emotion behind what you have done as well. So exciting to not only see but feel your journey!! I appreciate this, as I think it helps more people to understand who you are, who I am, and who we all are. Most importantly, it allows us to reflect, which is always necessary, so that we can re-invent, question and even find some satisfying moments. Thanks once again.
Thanks for inspiring me to write it down. It was a good exercise for me.
I wish you could come and work at our school. We are about to embark on expanding our programs for upper grades and we are heavily arts integrated. Do you live in NY by any chance?
Hi Donna,
I wrote a personal e-mail to you, regarding this last post at… info@thegardenroad.org Just so you know. Thanks for reaching out.

Trying to disappear behind student-dircted learning in the classroom, trying to champion student-directed learning outside the classroom, and trying to hold myself and the system accountable for our failures.
Great prompt – thank you, Casey!

As I prepare myself for the rest of this year, I’ve been thinking a lot about my journey as well…
2007 – After lots of tangents, travels, and diversions I became first Lacoste to graduate college (BA Psych)
2007-09 – ECE cert program, but something’s missing from traditional ed, work at Montessori school
2009-2011 – Confusion, more tangents, more travels
2011 – Discover democratic ed. Cool, want to start a school. Epic fail/practice run. Mass volunteerism follows.
2012 – Epiphany: It’s not you, it’s me. Time to build some bridges and get it together.
Resolutions to evolve: No complaining, no (unnecessary) explaining, no accusing, stay positive, seek feedback, focus on relationships (not self).
