   I’d love to see us go beyond “acceptable” to “ethical.” I’d also love to see students think about how to use it for social justice, democracy and critical thinking. The real enemy of the internet isn’t porn. It’s bread and circus. I want students to use technology to fight for what they believe in. Perhaps “fight” isn’t the right word. I want them to use technology to serve the cause that fits their passion and beliefs and contributes to others.

   what i really like and really believe in about the web – is that it – by it’s very nature of transparency – is going to nudge out of all of us – our best.

   i envision no more labels, no more separations, (much like i think ed should be with no separations of discipline.) we often think of the web carrying us to far away places… zooming us out to see the world. which is cool. but i also think it will take us right to the core… to the place our souls long to be.

   we’ve become so busy. and we’ve been able to hide in many places. and under many rules and labels. i really believe that transparency is the new currency. it’s what will make us rich. we need to be ourselves.. everywhere. our best selves.

   would love to hear more about bread and circus John..

   I just made “be safe, be ethical, be awesome” as my desktop background. Sweet. I have been working to get schools to adopt at the very minimum some sane social networking policies, but always in the background I am wondering, “Is any of this really necessary?” Probably not in sane systems. Isn’t the fact that we ‘need’ dress codes and AUP’s indicative of a systemic illness or at least a failure of scale? Thanks for the great image and thanks for sharing them.

   What if EULA’s limited companies’ liabilities and let entities like school systems generate their own use-end AUPs?
